Overview
Jingshan Park is located right on the center point of North-South axis of Beijing. It neighboring Forbidden city to the south, close to Beihai park in its west, and near the Gulou in its north, it was the highest point of Beijing, also known as the Coal Mountain.
Brief
Jingshan was the royal palace backyard in Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. Its name was also changed several times, such as, Castle Peak, Long live Hill, Zhenshan and Jingshan. It was opened in 1928. In 1957, it was designated as the Beijing cultural relics protection units, and in 2001, it was listed as a national cultural relics protection units
Jingshan Park is an imperial park covering 23 hectares. The focal point is the artificial hill Jingshan, literally “Prospect Hill”.
Approximately a thousand years ago, the 46 meter high artificial hill was constructed in the year of “Yong Le |永乐 ” of the Ming dynasty entirely from the soil excavated in forming the moats of the Imperial Palace and nearby canals.
Jingshan consists of five individual peaks, and on the top of each peak there lies an elaborate pavilion. These pavilions were used by officials for both gathering and leisure. These five peaks also draw the approximate historical axis of central Beijing.
According to chinese “Feng Shui | 风水 ” that it said that the tombs and residences sited south of a nearby hill, serving to channel both harmful “Yin | 阴” and cold northern winds, however, With Jingshan serving that purpose, it gained the very positive nickname of “Feng Shui Hill”. It is also well known to locals as Coal Hill.

The South Gate –By bus : Take No.101，No.103，No.109，No.124，No.68，No.58，No.Z1, No.Z2, At Bus stop “Gu Gong stop | 故宫站”, walk from here for about 200 meters to reach the South gate of Jinshan Park
The East Gate — By bus : Take No.111, No.124, No.58, At Bus stop “Jin shan Dong Men stop | 景山东门站”, heading north and walk about 200 meters to reach the East gate of Jinshan Park
The West Gate –By bus : Take No.5,No.58, At Bus stop “Xi Ban Qiao stop | 西板桥站”, walk 50 meters to reach the West gate of Jinshan Park
