Shangri La Excursion

Shangri La Excursion tour is to get to the west Yunnan province for the wonder-land of Shangri la in the legend, which is thought to be the southern edge of Kham. You will first to visit to Lijiang the well-known minority tribe area, then explore the mysterious Tibetan monastery of Songtsam lin in Shangri La, which is thought to be the wonderland that exist in the legend, however, in the northern edge of Yunnan province, there is one small town called Shangri La, it is also said that this piece of land is the one that fits the most as the wonderland in the legend.

–Itinerary–

Day 1 Arrival Lijiang

Arriving in Lijiang by plane, your guide, driver will be awaiting at the Arrival-hall. Then you will be transferred to your hotel in the ancient town, check in. In the afternoon we will explore the ancient town of Lijiang that one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, its history dates back to over 800 years.
Then after we will observe and appreciate the Naxi people’s incredible skills and fine arts on architecture. Follow the stream in the old town we will reach the Black Dragon Pond Park, where the view of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is spectacular.

Day 2 Lijiang, explore Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Baisha Bai peple village

Today we will begin our journey by heading to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. We will take local cable car to reach 3000 meter high on the mountain, you may feel altitude, and you will enjoy the great nature view. Then we will descend from this snow captured mountain, driving back to Lijiang, en-route, we will visit Baisha village, which is the original settlement and was the earliest political center of the Naxi people. We will enjoy the murals that has history over 1,000 years, those of which combines the cultures of the Chinese Han, Tibetan, Miao poeple, Bai people and Naxi people. You will find that murals tell the stories of Tibetan Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism.

Day 3 Lijiang to Shangri La, detour Tiger leaping Gorge

Today we will depart early, we will first stop by Shi Gu township and hike a bit for the wonderful view of the Yangtze River Bend, which is thought to be the first one on this the longest river of China. Then we will continue to drive for about 2 hours, where we will stop to visit Tiger leaping Gorge. After having lunch here, we will depart for Shangri La, which is about 3300 meters above sea level, you may even feel the altitude, however, you will be fine after rest a bit; arriving in Shangri La, check in, you will ahve your time free to walk in the streets relaxing yourself

Day 4 Shangri La Excursion

Today, we will first visit Songtsam lin monastery. It is the largest Tibetan monastery in Yunnan province. Due to its shape and modeling from Potala palace, therefore it is also called “the little Potala palace”. It houses more than 1200 pieces of Buddhism relics and Sutras. Then after we will make a family visit of one local Tibetan resident, which is unlike the Tibetan in other region.
After lunch, we will drive to Pudacuo National Park which still retains a well-preserved eco-system surrounding by virgin forests. One of the “Pearl” part of this visit is to see Lake Bita which means a place with a dense oak forest. In Tibetan, ‘Bitahai’ means ‘a silence lake’.

Day 5 Shangri La departure

Today, you tour is about to end, after having your breakfast, we will transfer you to the airport for your departure (Transfer timing may vary, depending on your flight schedule)
