Mt Everest Tour

Mt Everest Tour is to visit the highest peak of this planet. During this trip you will visit the world heritage site of Potala palace, Jokhang temple…etc, then then travel through the most cultivated land of Gyantse, Shigatse, southwest approaching the border between Tibet and Nepal; at which a small town called Shegar, we will turn to southeast into a narrow valley, and then driving onto the pass (4750m) fora panoramar view of Mt Everest and other peaks around Everest, and all of which are with height over 8000 meters; then we will descending from the pass, the dirt road curves in the valley. Due to envirment protection, it is forbidden to build paved road in this area. When we arrive in Rongphuk monastery, the terminal of this trip, we will check in monastery guesthouse, enjoying the nature view, and also the view of Mt Everest.

This tour requires a confirmation of 20 days minimum before your departure in order to apply your Tibet Travel Permit

Day 1 Arrive in Lhasa

Arrive in Lhasa – the holy center to all Tibetan pilgrims, meet your Tibetan guide and drive to your hotel for rest; before you go to bed, it is recommend to take a small walk and trying to acclimatizing the high altitude;

Day 2 Lhasa

Today, we will begin our visit to Potala palace , the land mark of Tibet and the center to all pilgrims. Then after, we will get to the old area visiting Jokhang temple that is home of the statues of the revered Buddha Shakyamuni. followed by visiting Barkhor street which is indeed a pilgrim Cora around Jokhang temple, we will take a walk into the small alleys, if you want to, you can visit local Tibetan Family run Sweet-Tea house, to interact with locals;

Day 3 Lhasa

Today we will visit to Drepung monastery and Sera monastery. Both monasteries are separately located on the northeast and west end of Lhasa. Drepung Monastery is one of the “great six” Gelukpa monasteries. It is about 5 kilometers from the west Lhasa, and being regarded the largest monastery across Tibet. In the afternoon, we will drive to the northeast Lhasa visiting to Sera monastery. The origin of the name ‘Sera’ derived from the fact that the original site was surrounded by ‘Wild Roses,‘ which in Tibetan language read as “Se” “Ra.”

Day 4 Lhasa to Shigartse via Gyantse

Today we will depart early, en route we will visit to Yamdrok lake, and Gyantse Pelkhor monastery, Then after we will follow the curved road, descending to visit Karola Glacier by the road, We will visit Pelkhor monastery in Gyantse county, then get to Shigatse for overnight

Day 5 Shigartse to Rongphuk monastery

Today we will depart early, en route we will enjoy the view of Mt Everest at Gyatso La pass, then we will arrive in Shegar county, from which we will turn east along the train into the valley. On the drive, we will pass through Gyawu La Pass, on which we will be able to view the 4 peaks with altitude over 8000 meters, including: Mt Everes, Mt Cho Oyu, Mt. Lotze, Mt Makalu. From here, we will descend to the bottom of the valley to Rongphuk monastery, overnight in local guesthouse

Day 6 Rongphuk Monastery visit, and return Shigatse

Today, we will get up early to view the great view of Sunrise of Mt Everest, and walk around to explore the area around Rongphuk Monastery. Then after, we will be on the way for return. We will take the same road we came through one day earlier, at Gyawu La pass, we will stop and for the last view of Mt Everest and other three 8000 meters peaks, return to the main road, and drive back to Shigatse for overnight

Day 7 Shigatse to Lhasa

Today we will drive back to Lhasa, this is a full day drive, enroute enjoy the view along Yarlu River.

Day 8 Lhasa departure

Your tour ends today, we will transfer you to airport or train station for you departure
