The 144 Hours Visa Free policy was first established for use in the Pearl River Delta Region but is now also available for tourists who visit Shanghai, Guilin, Jiangsu Province and Zhejiang Province. Due to the G-20 Summit in Hangzhou, the 144 Hour Visa Free Policy was temporarily suspended, and now the policy has been reinstated.

Pearl River Delta Region 144 Hour Visa Free Policy
Travelers who are nationals of a country which have diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China are eligible to apply for the 144 Hour Visa Free Policy in Guangdong Province. This means the majority of countries are able to apply.
Guilin 144 Hour Visa Free Policy
Only travelers holding passports of the 10 ASEAN nations are eligible to apply for the Guilin 144 Hour Visa Free Policy. The following countries are: Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Brunei and Philippines.
