Jinfo (Golden Buddha) mountain has been approved to be one of the World Heritages on the 38th session of the World Heritage Committee at Doha, Qatar in 2014.
Recently, New Zealand Institute for Nuclear Research and Purdue University made a joint-exloration and have found the gravel layer dating back 570 million years in Jinfo mountain. According to preliminary projections, the rock layer was formed in miocene. The cave is 12 km long, 10-40 meters high. This cave has a very important value for studying the evolution of Three Gorges area and the development of the South China Karst Neotectonics.
