Overview

Huangguoshu Waterfall, known as Baishuihe Waterfall in the ancient times, is also known as “Huanggeshu” Waterfall. It is named because of the widespread distribution of “Ficus virens”.

Brief

Huangguoshu Waterfall is 45 kilometers southwest of Anshun and 150 kilometers northeast of Guiyang – the capital of Guizhou, with low altitude, frost-free all year round.

Huangguoshu Waterfall is famous for its vast water. The height of the waterfall is 77.8 meters, and the main waterfall is 67 meters high; The waterfall is 101 meters wide, and the top of the main waterfall is 83.3 meters wide. It belongs to the typical eroded crack waterfall in karst landforms. Huangguoshu Falls became famous since Xu Xiake, a traveler in the Ming Dynasty. After Celebrities of all generations travel and spread, it has become a well-known attraction. With it at its core, 18 waterfalls of various styles have been formed on its 20 km upstream and downstream, and gradually it is regarded as China’s largest waterfall. There are not only just waterfalls, but also strange stones, strange trees, karst caves, and gardens are all-encompassing. There are also Buyi ethnic villages around the scenic spot.

Behind Huangguoshu Waterfall, there is a 134-meter-long water curtain cave crossing the waterfall. It consists of 6 hole windows, 5 cave halls, 3 cave springs, and 6 channels. There is a deep box-shaped karst canyon in front of the waterfall. The cliff is on the left and grows towering ancient trees; On the right, there are travertine slopes, stalagmite mountains,and “Rhinoceros Pond (17 meters depth)”, “Horseshoe Pond” are in the center that to connect to the beach. A pavilion is built across the waterfall for its view. The forest under the pavilion is dense, and there is a winding road leading directly to the river from the pavilion . The bridge on the river is built to connect the “water curtain hole”.

The best time to visit Huangguoshu is in July and August every year. the water is magnificent during this rainy season, and it is not like in dry season
Spring (March-May) is the dry season of Huangguoshu Waterfall. The water volume slows down. At this time, wild flowers bloom in the surrounding mountains, and the new sprouts are green. It is also a good time for viewing flowers.

Tips 0n Traffic

–By train, there are trains between Guiyang train station to Anshun train station. Then about one hour drive from Anshun train station to Huangguoshu Waterfall

–By vehicle There is direct bus from Guiyang airport to Anshun city, the bus ticket is RMB60 per person, with 12 departures from 10:00 am to 20:00 pm; however, there might be more buses if the passengers are more, please call +86 851 549-9246 for detail;

Or from Guiyang city, please go to “Guiyang Jin Yang Bus terminal (贵阳金阳客车站)” and “Huangguoshu ticekt center bus terminal (黄果树票务中心停车场)”; there are more than 10 buses to Huangguoshu waterfall; the rate is RMB58 per person; It takes about 2 hours’ drive
