Lhasa Dunhuang Tour is a great overland journey that to explore the World Cultural Heritage sites in Lhasa and Dunhuang. During this long journey, you will travel through the enormous area of northwest China visiting the two the well-known famous Chinese Heritage sites of Lhasa Potala Palace, and Jokhang temple in Lhasa, and then boarding on the Tibetan Plateau Train to get to Golmud. During the train ride, enjoy the great Qinghai Tibetan Plateua view, and visit to the greatest salt lake in Golmud, which is the largest one accross China. Day 1 Arrival in Tsetang
Arrival in Lhasa airport in the morning, you will meet your guide at the airport; Then we will drive to Tsetang, en route we will visit to Dranang monastery and Mindrolin monastery, your Lhasa Dunhuang Tour begins today

Day 2 Tsetang Visit
Today, we will begin our journey by visiting to Samye monastery, which was built in the 770’s under the patronage of King Trisong Detsen, being regarded as the first Buddhist monastery. In the Afternoon, we will drive to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet Autonomous Region

Day 3 Lhasa Visit
Today, we will begin our visit to Potala palace , the land mark of Tibet and the center to all pilgrims. Then after, we will get to the old area visiting Jokhang temple that is home of the statues of the revered Buddha Shakyamuni. followed by visiting Barkhor street which is indeed a pilgrim Cora around Jokhang temple, we will take a walk into the small alleys, if you want to, you can visit local Tibetan Family run Sweet-Tea house, to interact with locals;

Day 4 Lhasa Visit
Today we will visit to Drepung monastery and Sera monastery. Both monasteries are separately located on the northeast and west end of Lhasa. Drepung Monastery is one of the “great six” Gelukpa monasteries. It is about 5 kilometers from the west Lhasa, and being regarded the largest monastery across Tibet. In the afternoon, we will drive to the northeast Lhasa visiting to Sera monastery. The origin of the name ‘Sera’ derived from the fact that the original site was surrounded by ‘Wild Roses,‘ which in Tibetan language read as “Se” “Ra.”

Day 5 Lhasa to Golmud
Today, we will board on the highest train on this planet, the Qinghai-Tibet train, we will take the train to Golmud, where you will meet your guide at train station, and drive to your hotel. During the train ride, you will enjoy the stunning Tibetan Plateau view.

Day 6 Golmud to Dunhuang
Today is one great overland journey, the distance is about 600 kilometers, the altitude rapidly goes down from 3,800 meters to 1,100 meters; The nature view along the road is breathtaking. We will find more than 4 stops for photography and rest

Day 7 Dunhuang Visit
Today, we will explore the World Culture Heritage site of Dunhuang Mogao Grotto, we will follow the local guide to discover the ancient chinese culture. and then we will have fun to do some Sand-Skiing, in Sound Sand Dune, and sightseeing the Oasis of the Moon Lake by the Sand Dune

Day 8 Dunhuang to Turpan
Today, we will take train from Dunhuang to Turpan.
Turpan is the lowest point in China with altitude of -154 meters below sea level. It is very hot and dry, therefore local people developed one amazing water irrigation system to plant

Day 9 Turfan Visit
Today, we will begin our tour by driving east of Turfan for the Flaming Mountains, and visit the Bezelik Buddhist Caves. Then after, visit to Astana Tomb. In the late afternoon we will return to Turpan town, in the evening, if possible we will be able to witness local group dance in the plaza

Day 10 Turfan to Urumqi
In the morning visit to a traditional Uighur household including the family Karez (the irrigation system that taps into the snow melt from the Tian Shan Mountains). Then visit ancient city of JiaoHe, return to Urumqi in the afternoon by train
