Overview
Yuanyang Terracced Fields is a masterpiece left by the Hani people for generations. The big ones have a few acres, and the small ones have only a large dustpan
Brief
Yuanyang Terraces is located in the south of Ai-lao Mountain in Yuanyang County, it were cultivated by the Hani people, with the continuous reclamation of farmland, the beauty of today’s terraces has slowly formed. Ever since 14th century, the reclamation technology of terraced fields has spread throughout China and Southeast Asia. However, in terms of scale and aesthetics, there are few places that can rival the terraced fields in Yuanyang. At the 37th World Heritage Convention held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on June 22, 2013, Hani Terraces was successfully listed on the World Heritage List and became China’s 45th World Heritage Site.
The largest and most concentrated terracced fields in Yuanyang are three.
-1), The Bada scenic area, which has a continuous area of more than 14,000 acres;
-2), the Tiger’s mouth scenic area, which has about 6,000 acres;
-3), the Duoyishu area, which has about 10,000 acres.
So many terraced fields in the shadow of the vast forest and covered by the sea of clouds constitute a magical and magnificent landscape. In addition to the above three scenic spots, there are many terraces with different shapes and characteristics, but few tourists are involved because of the long roads and inconvenient transportation.
Yuanyang Terracced Fields are beautiful all year round. Before the sunrise, the graceful outline of the terraced fields was looming in the dawn. Standing on a high point overlooking it, which just like an extremely elegant ink painting. When the sun rises from the east. The red rising sun shines on the village in the west, and the colors around it are constantly changing as the sun rises. The kind of colorful and luxuriant can’t help but intoxicate.
The sunsets of Bada and Tiger’s Mouth are equally stunning. As the sunset fades away, the two terraces will change into beautiful colors. When this color is intertwined with the lines of field ridge, they together constitute an extremely moving painted print.In contrast, the
Longshuba terraces present another mood,it’s small and gorgeous. Because there are many duckweeds in Longshuba, the terraces here will appear red. Therefore, in the season that duckweeds grows, a large number of photographers and fans off photography will always come to take pictures.
After planting rice in June every year, there are lush green rice waves everywhere. In October, as the crops matured, the mountains turns color to golden yellow.However, the most beautiful season to enjoy the view of terraces is always winter, as the water-filled terraces will flash a silver-white light, which highlights the twisty outline of the terraces.
